We Are All Conditioned

Our soul came into this world with certain gifts, mission and uniqueness, which was given only to us. Then came parents, teachers, relatives, neighbours, colleagues, friends, beloved, so our soul starts to become a human. This human being started to detach from its soul, purpose, and gifts to be liked, to be like everyone else, to fit in. In other words, conditioning was born.

This beast, so to speak, becomes apparent most of all in the new environment, where all unnaturalness and fakeness becomes vivid in just one glance. However, the thing is, even though others see this unnaturalness, we’re often left in the illusion that we’re rooted in our naturalness and ease. It's impossible to hide from this comfort. The new environment might be different from the one we’re used to; we see completely different people. Those who don’t care what others think of them or express themselves the way they are natural and not an environmental symptom.

Suddenly, we stopped understanding what it is really like, to be like everyone else. I love what Osho says about conditioning, “Unless you drop your personality, you will not be able to find your individuality”.

Unless we dropped our personality, we are not able to find our individuality. Individuality is given by existence. Personality is imposed by society; it is social convenience. Society cannot tolerate individuality because individuality will not follow like a sheep. Individuality has the quality of a lion. The lion moves alone. The sheep are always in a crowd hoping that being in a crowd will feel cosy. Being in a crowd, one feels more protected, secure. If somebody attacks, there is every possibility in a crowd to save oneself. But if alone, only a lion would move.

Everyone is born a lion, but society is conditioning us, programming our mind, as sheep. And it gives us personality, a cosy, nice, very convenient, very obedient personality. Society wants slaves. Not people who are dedicated to freedom.

Does it sound familiar?
